The Locals

The Locals ("we," "our," or "us") is dedicated to safeguarding your personal data. This document outlines the manner in which we gather, utilize, and protect your information whenever you engage with our mobile application ("The Locals"), accessible via the Apple App Store.
By installing, opening, or engaging with The Locals, you consent to the gathering and handling of information as described in this document. Should you disagree with any provision outlined here, we ask that you refrain from accessing or utilizing the application.
Account information: when you register for an account, we collect your email address and chosen display name. Authentication and account data are handled through Supabase.
Trip planning information: destinations you search for and save, places you add to your trips, and the travel preferences you provide to personalize your itinerary — including travel style, budget for attractions and for dining (set independently), pace, preferred wake-up and bedtime hours, arrival and departure times, the purpose of your trip, and any specific places you ask us to prioritize.
Content you create: documents, photos, and expense records you choose to upload or add to your trips are stored so you can access them within the app.
Search activity: search terms you enter when looking for destinations, places, flights, or accommodations within the app.
Subscription information: if you subscribe to The Locals Pro, purchase and subscription status is processed by Apple and RevenueCat, our subscription management provider. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
The Locals relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each receives only the information necessary to perform its specific function, and each maintains its own privacy practices:
We do not use your device's real-time location. The Locals does not request or access GPS or location permissions.
The information we gather serves the following objectives: (a) to deliver and personalize your app experience; (b) to retain your preferences and saved places; (c) to generate and improve itinerary suggestions and curated content; (d) to process subscription payments for premium features; and (e) to relay essential service notifications.
We neither sell, exchange, nor distribute your personal details to outside parties for promotional purposes. We may disclose anonymized, aggregated data for analytical purposes. The Locals does not engage in the sale of personal information.
Your information is maintained securely through Supabase infrastructure employing row-level security measures. We apply industry-standard encryption to protect data both during transmission and while stored.
You are entitled to review the personal data we maintain about you, request the removal of your account and related data, decline non-essential data gathering, and/or obtain your data in a transferable format. To exercise any of these entitlements, please reach out to us at ghstudioapp@gmail.com. We will address your inquiry within 30 days.
The Locals is not intended for individuals younger than 13 years of age. We do not deliberately gather personal details from minors. Should we discover that we have unintentionally obtained personal information from a child below 13, we will promptly act to remove such data.
Given that The Locals is accessible through the Apple App Store, your data may be transmitted to and handled in jurisdictions outside your home country. We implement suitable safeguards to ensure your personal information continues to be protected consistent with this document and relevant data protection legislation.
The Locals may feature connections to external websites or services beyond our operation. We exercise no authority over, and bear no liability for, the content, data practices, or conduct of any external services. We recommend that you examine the data handling policies of any external services you visit.
We may revise this document periodically. We will inform you of material changes via the app or through email. Your ongoing use of The Locals following any amendments to this document signifies your agreement to those revisions.
